The Process

I love guiding students through this process - from brainstorming and developing to revising and polishing. The strongest personal statements are specific, honest, and unique, and I work with students to unearth the stories that best reflect their individualities.

Brainstorm

In our first meeting we will do a lot of brainstorming. My goal is to help students bring forth the parts of their life that are not visible on your college transcript. We will hone in on three topics that show the most promise and they will freewrite on all three topics for our next session. Follow up sessions include discussions and example of different ways to outline, structure, and develop essays. The final steps are, of course, editing and revising! The number of hours we spend together depends on how much writing and revising you do in between our sessions.
